Formatting a report can make it easier to read, but leave the formatting until you're through pivoting the report.
Now you can see the number of orders, which has been renamed Count of Order Amount2. The title is still "2" because it's the second summary of the same data field. But the report isn't very easy to read, is it?
After you pivot for a while, this may not look so strange to you, but you can format the report to make it easier to read. Click the report, click the Format Report button on the PivotTable toolbar, and then select one of the PivotTable formats in the AutoFormat dialog box.
- We renamed the Count of Order Amount2 field to Order #, and Order Amount to Order $, to save a little space in the picture. Remember how we did that in the first lesson? Just select the heading and type in the new name. You can change the name at any time; you don't have to wait until after the report is formatted.
- Wait until you're through pivoting a report before applying automatic formatting. When the format changes, pivoting the report may not work as you would expect. In the Quick Reference Card at the end of the course you'll see how to get the original formatting back.
