CSC function

This article describes the formula syntax and usage of the CSC function (function: A prewritten formula that takes a value or values, performs an operation, and returns a value or values. Use functions to simplify and shorten formulas on a worksheet, especially those that perform lengthy or complex calculations.) in Microsoft Excel.


Returns the cosecant of an angle specified in radians.



The CSC function syntax has the following arguments.

  • Number    Required.


  • The absolute value of Number must be less than 2^27.
  • If Number is outside its constraints, CSC returns the #NUM! error value.
  • If Number is a non-numeric value, CSC returns the #VALUE! error value.
  • CSC(n) equals 1/SIN(n).
