If you delete gridlines, but feel a little insecure without them, you can show your audience the exact number of cases of chocolate biscuits sold. The chart in Figure 1 has data labels above each column that show the number of cases of biscuits sold by each person for each month.
To add data labels, you'd right-click in the white chart area and then click Chart Options on the shortcut menu. Or, remember, you could click Chart Options on the Chart menu after selecting the chart. In the practice session you'll do the rest of the steps to add the data labels above each column.
To reduce clutter, you can also remove other information if it's not necessary. Because the data labels show exactly what the numbers are for each column, you don't really need the numbers on the vertical value (y) axis on the left. Figure 2 shows how that looks. Of course, if your chart didn't have data labels, you wouldn't want to delete the value (y) axis. You'll also see how to remove the value axis in the practice session.
