Configure the Live Meeting Add-in

If you have not yet configured Live Meeting User Preferences, you need to configure logon information before you can use the add-in. In Live Meeting 2005, you can either use Live Meeting Manager or a Live Meeting intranet portal to access meetings. If you are not sure what kind of logon your organization uses, or if you do not know the URL of the Live Meeting conference center or Live Meeting intranet portal, contact your Live Meeting account administrator.

ShowTo configure Live Meeting logon information for Live Meeting Manager

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, click Microsoft Office Live Meeting, and then click User Preferences.
  2. In the User Preferences dialog box, in the navigation pane, ensure that the Live Meeting Add-in Setup page is selected (the default).
  3. If you use a user name and password to access your meetings, select the I use a user login and password to access Live Meeting check box.
  4. In the Live Meeting URL box, type your conference center URL. This is the same URL that you would use to log on to Live Meeting Manager.
  5. In User Login, type your Live Meeting user name.
  6. In Password, type your Live Meeting password.
  7. Click OK.

Because the add-in opens your Meet Now meeting room, we recommend that you configure Meet Now options. At a minimum, configure Entry Control in Meet Now Options to use a server-generated meeting key. If the server generates the meeting key for you, you do not need to provide as much input later in order to start a Live Meeting with the add-in.

ShowTo configure Live Meeting Meet Now Options

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, click Microsoft Office Live Meeting, and then click Meet Now Options.
  2. In the Meet Now Options dialog box, click Entry Control in the left navigation pane.
  3. Under Presenters, click Meeting Key, and then under Attendees, click Meeting Key again.
  4. Click OK.

For details about Live Meeting Meet Now Options, see topics such as How to Set Meeting Options on the Live Meeting Assistance site.

You should consider the security of resources in your Meet Now meeting room before you use the add-in. Delete any resources from the meeting that you do not want new meeting participants to see. Carefully consider whom you invite to Live Meeting by using the add-in. Once you have invited people to your Meet Now meeting room, they can continue to access the meeting using the same meeting information or the link from the Communicator conversation window.

Note   Live Meeting is not supported in Microsoft Office Communicator SP1.
