If you do your banking with a bank or other financial institution that supports online banking, you can set up your accounts in Microsoft Office Accounting 2009 to work directly with your bank by means of an Internet connection.
You must have an online account with your bank, including a secure user name and password, before you can use online banking in Office Accounting 2009.
One-way or two-way banking
Some banks offer two-way banking (or direct connect), which allows you to pay bills and transfer funds from Accounting 2009 and to download transactions directly into Accounting 2009. Others offer a one-way relationship (or Web connect), which enables you to log on and download bank transactions from the bank's Web site. The type of relationship that a bank offers determines the pages that open in the wizard.
If you set up an account for two-way banking, you can link your existing list of online payees with the bank to vendors in Accounting 2009. You don't need to create additional online payees for vendors that you previously paid online. For more information, see Sync online payees to Office Accounting vendors.
If your bank does not offer online banking
If your bank does not offer online banking with Accounting 2009, or you choose not to set up an account with the Set Up Online Banking Wizard, you can still manually import a downloaded .ofx file into Accounting 2009 by using the Import Bank File dialog box. For more information, see Import bank transactions.

After you set up an account for online banking, you can do the following:
