If your company buys or sells goods or services in other countries, you can set Microsoft Office Accounting 2008 to use foreign currency. By using foreign currency in Office Accounting 2008, you can do the following:
- Keep accurate records of foreign currency transactions.
- Quickly add or update information about the foreign currencies you deal in.
- Update the balances in your accounts to adjust for estimated gains or losses because of variations in the currency exchange rate that occurred between the date of a transaction and the close of the reporting period.
Use foreign currency
You can begin using foreign currency at any time.
- On the Company menu, click Preferences.
- In the Preferences dialog box, on the Company tab, under Foreign currency, select the Use foreign currencies check box.
After you set Accounting 2008 to use foreign currency, many of the forms, dialog boxes, documents, and reports change to reflect the addition of new currencies. For example, a form might include a new field so that you can see amounts in both the foreign currency and your base currency.
Stop using foreign currency
You can stop using foreign currency at any time.
- On the Company menu, click Preferences.
- In the Preferences dialog box, on the Company tab, under Foreign currency, clear the Use foreign currencies check box.
