Find company accounts in a list

All of your company's accounts are listed in the Chart of Accounts. For more information, see About accounts.

 Note   If you selected Use account numbers in the Preferences dialog box, the account number determines the account's position within its type in the Chart of Accounts. A subaccount's balance is included in the parent's account balance.

  1. On the Company menu, point to Company Lists, and then click Chart of Accounts.
  2. Do one or more of the following:
  1. Select one or more (up to 10) accounts in the list.
To Do this
Select one account Click the account name.
Select multiple accounts in the list Hold down the CTRL key and select individual accounts, or hold down the SHIFT key and select a range of accounts.
Select all the accounts in the list On the Edit menu, click Select All.
Cancel a selection Hold down the CTRL key and click the account.
  1. On the File menu, click Open Selected Items.
  1. On the toolbar, click Find.
  2. In the Look for field, type a keyword.
  3. Click the arrow next to Search under, and then select a column title.
  4. Click Find.
  5. To return to the full list, click Clear.

To view accounts by status, click the arrow next to Current View, and then do one of the following.

Click To
Active View accounts currently in use.
Inactive View only accounts not currently in use and marked Inactive.
All View both active and inactive accounts. A check mark in the Active column indicates an active account.

 Note   You can make selected accounts active or inactive.

  1. Select one or more accounts in the list.
To Do this
Select one account Click the account name.
Select multiple accounts in the list Hold down the CTRL key and select individual accounts, or hold down the SHIFT key and select a range of accounts.
Select all the accounts in the list On the Edit menu, click Select All.
Cancel a selection Hold down the CTRL key and click the account.
  1. On the Edit menu, click Make Active or Make Inactive.
  1. On the File menu, click Print Button image.
  2. In the Print dialog box, click OK.
