About menus and toolbars

In Microsoft Office Accounting 2008, you can easily navigate and perform common tasks by using the menu and toolbar commands. The menu bar is located across the top of each page. Toolbar buttons vary depending on the page or form you are using.

 Note   If a menu command or button appears dimmed, it is unavailable.

The following table provides a brief description of the menu items. The toolbars and Navigation Pane are available on every home page.

Menu bar

The menu bar is located across the top of each page. Each menu includes a set of commands related to its area of Office Accounting 2008:

File, Edit, View, Company, Customers, Vendors, Employees, Banking, Online Sales (if enabled), Reports, Resource Center, Services, Actions, PayPal Payments, Credit Profile, Fixed Assets, and Help

Toolbar

The following toolbar buttons are displayed above each home page:

New New Customer Create a new customer, vendor, employee, quote, sales order, invoice, purchase order, item, or journal entry, or write checks or pay bills.
E-mail Button image Send an item in an e-mail message.
Print Button image Print an item.
Export to Excel Button image Export an item to Microsoft Office Excel.
Delete Button image Delete an item.
Refresh Button Image Refresh a page.
Send Books Send books Send books to your accountant using Accountant Transfer.
Receive Books Receive books Receive books from your accountant using Accountant Transfer.
Find Button image Display the Find fields: Look under and Search for.
Help Button image Open Microsoft Office Accounting Help.
Fixed Assets Configure Fixed Asset Manager.
Navigation Pane

The Navigation Pane contains the following sections to help you quickly navigate to key tasks and lists:

  • Start a Task list
  • Find list
  • Navigation buttons that take you directly to the home pages: Company, Customers, Vendors, Employees, Banking, Online Sales (if enabled), Reports, and Resource Center
