Video: Import data to an Access database

In this video, we’ll take a look at how importing data to an Access database works. When you import data from either another Access database on your computer, or the server, or from an Access web database, Access copies the data from the source, into your selected database.

Some examples of when you might consider importing over linking or even copying and pasting the data:

  • To merge two databases by copying all the objects in one database to another.
  • To create table structures that are similar to tables in another database.
  • To copy a set of related objects to another database.

The advantages of importing the data include, having more control and flexibility in managing the data, and knowing that any changes to the imported data will not affect the original data.
