Subforms: What's changed in Access

Applies to
Microsoft Access 2002

Improvements have been made in Access 2002 to simplify the viewing and opening of a subform from a main form.

ShowSlower vertical scrolling in a subform when viewed within the main form in Design view

In Access 2000, the vertical scrollbar of a subform scrolled one inch at a time. This made it difficult to view the contents of subforms from within the main form. In Access 2002, the amount of scrolling is based on the height of the subform, which makes it easier to view the design of a subform from within the main form.

ShowOpening a subform in its own window

In Access 97, double-clicking a subform control on a main form opened the subform in its own window. This functionality was not available in Access 2000.

In Access 2002, you can once again open a subform in its own window, but instead of double-clicking the subform control, select the subform control, then click Subform in New Window on the View menu.
