Rearrange the order of columns in a table

Note   You cannot modify a database table by using a Web browser. You must first open the database in Access.

You can rearrange the order of columns in a table in Datasheet view (Datasheet view: A view that displays data from a table, form, query, view, or stored procedure in a row-and-column format. In Datasheet view, you can edit fields, add and delete data, and search for data.) or in Design view (Design view: A view that shows the design of these database objects: tables, queries, forms, reports, and macros. In Design view, you can create new database objects and modify the design of existing objects.). You can move a single column or a contiguous group of columns.

  1. Select the column that you want to move. To select more than one column, drag the pointer until you have selected the columns that you want.
  2. Do one of the following:
  • In Datasheet view, drag the selected columns horizontally to the position that you want.
  • In Design view, drag the selected columns vertically to the position that you want.
