Work with a database you didn't create

A query and its criteria in Design view

You can add criteria or change other settings for a query in Design view.

Suppose your database has some queries, but they don't give you exactly the information you want.

For example, you have a query that lists all recordings by their format, such as cassette, DVD, or CD, but you want to see a list of only the CDs.

You can set or change criteria for a query in Design view, as well as change the sort order or other query features. You can also create new queries, if you think you might need the existing ones at some point.

To set the criteria, you'd click the Criteria cell under the field that you're setting criteria for, and then type the criteria you want.
