Change the width of a column

  1. On the View menu, point to Arrange By, point to Current View, and then click Format Columns.
  2. In the Available fields list, click the name of the column you want to change the width of.
  3. If you know how many characters wide you want the column to be, click Specific Width, and then type the number of characters in the box.

If you want Microsoft Outlook to adjust the width automatically, click Best Fit.

ShowTip

To quickly adjust column width, point to the right border of the column heading (column heading: The horizontal bar at the top of one column in a table. There are multiple column headings in the column heading row.), and when the pointer becomes a double-headed arrow Icon image, drag the column border to the left or right. To quickly make the column wide enough to show all of its contents, double-click the right border of the column heading.
