Take audio and video notes

The Tools menu and the Audio and Video Recording toolbar

Use the Audio and Video Recording command on the Tools menu to start recording. The Audio and Video Recording toolbar also opens.
Callout 1 Play button.
Callout 2 Stop button.
Callout 3 Pause button.
Callout 4 Record button. (This button may show with either an audio or video image.)
Callout 5 Audio gauge.
Callout 6 See Playback button.

You can start a recording by:

  • Clicking the Record button on the Audio and Video Recording toolbar.
  • Using the Audio and Video Recording command on the Tools menu.
  • Clicking the Record button on the Standard toolbar.
  • For audio only: Right-clicking the Open New Side Note icon in the notification area, at the far right of the Windows taskbar, and then clicking Start Recording Audio on the shortcut menu.

You can keep recording as long as you like; the length of recording is limited only by the amount of free disk space you have on your computer.

Note    The Record button will show either an audio (Button image ) or video (Button image ) image, depending on what was last used. You can change from one to the other by clicking the arrow next to the button.

The commands for playing, pausing, and stopping audio notes are available on both the Audio and Video Recording toolbar and the Audio and Video Recording submenu.

The toolbar also has other features, including the Audio gauge and the See Playback button, which you'll learn about later in the lesson.
