Each template includes instructions to help you customize or even completely recreate the template. After you download the template, you can find the instructions in the Notes pane of the template.

The instructions are organized into separate sub-procedures that correspond to different effects on the slide. In most cases, you can follow the procedure for a single effect in the template without needing to complete the other effects.
Why do the instructions say “Basic,” “Intermediate,” “Advanced,” or “Difficult” under the title?
The instructions are categorized by the level of difficulty of the tasks required to completely recreate the template, from “Basic” to “Difficult”:
- Basic instructions are approachable by PowerPoint users of any ability level.
- Intermediate instructions are generally longer than “Basic” instructions and usually include multiple sub-procedures for the different effects.
- Advanced instructions often require an additional level of manual customization. They frequently include a wide variety of graphic effects that need to be completed in a set order for the desired effect.
- Difficult instructions require a high degree of manual customization, include a wide variety of procedures that need to be completed in sequence, and take longer to complete.
All PowerPoint users can use and modify a template of any difficulty level. The difficulty level only refers to recreating the slide entirely.
Tip For best performance, it is recommended that you delete the instructions before you use one of these templates in a live presentation. To remove all of the slide notes, place your cursor in the Notes pane, press CTRL + A, and then press DELETE.
