Use Word Viewer to read and print documents

If you don't have Microsoft Office Word installed, you can use Word Viewer to open, view, or print documents that were created by using Microsoft Office Word 2007, 2003, 2002, or 2000. However, you cannot edit, save, or create a new Word document unless you have Word installed.

Note   If you already have Word 2007 and you want to make changes to a document that was created in a different version of Word, click a link in the See Also section.

What do you want to do?

Use Word Viewer to view Office Word 2007 documents

Because Microsoft Office Word 2007 uses new file formats, you need to download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats in addition to Word Viewer to open documents that were created by using Office Word 2007.

  1. Download and install Word Viewer.
  2. Download and install Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats.
