Demo: Let Word create your table of contents

Intro art Watch the demoDemo icon

Have you ever manually created a table of contents for a long document — and then grown frustrated at having to change it repeatedly, with each new version, so that it matches the updated content?

Word provides a quick way to create a table of contents, using built-in heading styles. Once you identify the heading levels in your document, Word can use them to create a table of contents. If you add headings or more content, a single key press is all it takes to automatically update the table of contents to reflect the new headings or any change in pagination. This means your table of contents is also an excellent tool for keeping a handle on the structure of your document while you’re writing.

Watch this demo to learn more about creating a table of contents in Word 2003.
