Add commands to synchronize drawings and databases

After you link a shape to a database, you can add commands to the shortcut menu for a shape or the drawing page to update shapes and database records. You can also specify what happens when a shape is dropped on a page or copied.

  1. After you've linked the shapes to a database, select the shapes to which you want to add update commands.
  2. On the Tools menu, point to Add-Ons, point to Visio Extras, and then click Link to Database.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. Select the update options you want. For more information about the options, click the Help button.
