You can check the spelling of any shape text in a drawing either manually or automatically. When you check spelling, Microsoft Office Visio searches the current selection of shapes or text in shapes, including text-only shapes. It then searches other shapes in the document until you stop the spelling check.
If you use industry or company words that aren't in a standard dictionary, you can create a user dictionary that includes these words. Then, when you check spelling, you can check the spelling of those words against the spelling in your dictionary. You can even create different user dictionaries for different purposes and activate each one as you need it.
Automatically check spelling as you type
To check for spelling errors behind the scenes, use automatic spelling checking. As you type, the spelling checker checks the text and then marks possible errors with wavy red underlines. To correct an error, right-click the misspelled word, and then click the correction you want on the shortcut menu.
Check spelling manually
You can check your entire drawing for spelling errors and then confirm each correction. This method is useful if you want to postpone proofreading a drawing until after you finish creating it.
Automatically correct spelling using the AutoCorrect feature
To fix spelling errors without having to confirm each correction, use the AutoCorrect feature. For example, if you type "definitley" and then type a space or punctuation, AutoCorrect replaces it with "definitely." AutoCorrect makes corrections from a built-in list of AutoCorrect entries (but not the spelling checker dictionaries). You can easily add your own AutoCorrect entries or remove unwanted ones.
