You can start the Drawing Monitor to synchronize a drawing that represents a database table with the database.
- On the Tools menu, point to Add-Ons, then point to Visio Extras, and then click Database Wizard.
- On the first wizard page, click Next.
- Click Create a linked drawing or modify an existing one, and then click Next.
- Click Open an existing database drawing, and then click Next.
- Follow the remaining wizard pages until you start the Drawing Monitor.
Changes you make to shapes are reflected in the database table.
- If you want, change settings that control how the Drawing Monitor contacts the database.

- On the Tools menu, point to Add-Ons, point to Visio Extras, and then click Database Settings.
- Choose the number of retries, retry interval, or time-out interval you want.
- To set a global refresh interval, select Automatically refresh drawing page, and then type the number of seconds in the interval.
- Click Save.
