1. On the Tools menu, click Customize.
2. Click the Options tab.
3. Under Other, select or clear the Show ScreenTips on toolbars and Show shortcut keys in ScreenTips check boxes.

Note  Changing either setting affects all of your Microsoft Office System programs.

1. On the View menu, click Pan & Zoom Window.
2. In the Pan & Zoom window, drag the box or use the arrow keys to move the box to cover the area you want to magnify. You can resize the box by dragging its edges or corners.

The larger the box, the more you see of the page, so the less shapes are magnified. The smaller the box, the less you see of the page, so the more shapes are magnified.

Note  The magnification at which you view a Visio drawing is independent of the scale you set for a drawing page.

Do any of the following:

• To scroll up or down, rotate the IntelliMouse wheel forward or backward.
• To zoom in or out, hold down CTRL as you rotate the IntelliMouse wheel forward or backward.

Note  You can change the default behavior of the IntelliMouse wheel from scrolling to zooming on the General tab of the Options dialog box (on the Tools menu). For more information about changing options, and to view troubleshooting tips for the Microsoft IntelliMouse, see the IntelliPoint Online User's Guide.

1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize.
2. Click the Toolbars tab, click New, type a name for the new toolbar, and then click OK.
3. Click the Commands tab, and add menu commands to your new toolbar.
4. When you are finished, click Close.

You can add a separator bar before the first and after the last item in a group to distinguish the group from other buttons and menus on a toolbar.

1. Make sure the toolbar you want to change is visible.

How?

1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars.
2. Click the toolbar you want to display, or, to view more toolbars, click Customize.
3. In the Customize dialog box, click the Toolbars tab, and then double-click the name of the toolbar you want to display.
2. On the Tools menu, click Customize.
3. Do any of the following:
• To add a separator bar, keep the Customize dialog box open, right-click the button you want on the toolbar, and then click Begin a Group.

A separator bar is added to the left of the button on a horizontal toolbar, and above a button on a vertical docked toolbar.

• To remove a separator bar between two buttons, drag one button closer to the other.

2. Click the Options tab.
3. Select the Large icons check box.

1. Make sure the toolbar you want to change is visible.

How?

1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars.
2. Click the toolbar you want to display, or, to view more toolbars, click Customize.
3. In the Customize dialog box, click the Toolbars tab, and then select the check box next to the toolbar you want to display.
2. On the Tools menu, click Customize.
3. With the Customize dialog box open, on the toolbar, click the list box you want to change— for example, the Font or Font Size box on the Formatting toolbar.

A black bounding box appears around the box you click.

4. Point to the left or right edge of the box. When the pointer changes to a double-headed arrow, drag the edge of the box to change its width.

1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize.
2. Click the Commands tab, and then in the Categories list, click the category that contains the command for which you want to add a button.
3. In the Commands list, drag a command to the toolbar where you want to add the button. Point to the location where you want the button, and then release the mouse button.
4. To display text and an image or only text on the button, click Modify Selection, and then do one of the following:
• To have a button appear in the default style (usually just an icon), click Default Style.
• To have a button show text only, click Text Only (Always).
• To have a button show text only in menus, click Text Only (in Menus).
• To have a button show both text and an icon, click Image and Text.
5. To change the button icon, in the Customize dialog box, do one of the following:
• To use an icon on one of the other toolbars, click the button that you want, click Modify Selection, and then click Copy Button Image. On the toolbar, click the button you want to change, click Modify Selection, and then click Paste Button Image.
• To use one of the default icons, on the toolbar, click the button you want to change, and then click Modify Selection. Point to Change Button Image, and then click one of the icons.
6. To add a vertical line to separate groups of buttons, on the toolbar, click the button that is to the right of where you want the line. Click Modify Selection, and then click Begin a Group.
7. Repeat steps 3–6 until you've added all the buttons you want, and then click Close.

1. Select the text that has the style you want to copy.
2. Click Format Painter , and then select the text to which you want to apply the formatting.

Tip

You can apply the formatting to several text selections in succession. First, select the text whose style you want to copy, double-click Format Painter , and then select each block of text, one by one, to which you want to apply the formatting.

1. Select the shape that has text formatting you want to copy.
2. Click Format Painter .
3. Click the other shape that you want to format.

Note  You can also copy all shape formatting to another shape.

Tip

If you can no longer see the other shape you want to format after you click Format Painter , press CTRL+W to zoom out and display the entire drawing page in the Visio window.

1. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the AutoCorrect tab.
2. Do one or more of the following:
• To turn the capitalization options on or off, select or clear any of these check boxes:
• Correct TWo INitial CApitals
• Capitalize first letter of sentences
• Capitalize names of days
• Correct accidental use of cAPS LOCK key
• To turn text entries for misspellings and typos on or off, select or clear the Replace text as you type check box.

AutoFormat options include automatic changes that Visio makes to the look of your text, such as changing fraction characters to a fraction symbol or formatting smiley faces and arrows with special symbols. To set these options:

1. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
2. Select or clear any of the automatic formatting options you want to turn on or off.

1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Accessibility Options icon.
3. Click the Display tab and select the Use High Contrast check box.
4. Click OK.

Note  High contrast is a screen-only setting; it does not affect the actual drawing, nor does it apply to the printed page.

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Color Settings.
3. Click the color options you want, and then click OK twice.
