Link data to diagrams II: Data graphics

Shape with typed text and text as data callout

Typed text and text as data callouts can coexist on a shape.

We talked about this briefly in the course "Link data to diagrams I: Getting started," but it's good to mention again: You cannot select and type over the text you see in a data graphic. That text shows up as a result of linking the shape to the data in your columns.

This doesn't mean that a shape with text from linked data can't also have regular text that you type on the shape. This example has both: text that was typed — "Henrick Larsen" — and also text as data — "Department," "Sales, "Orders in Process," and so on. Regular text and data callout text can coexist on a shape.
