Continued notices (Continued notice: A note at the beginning or end of a text box indicating that the text is continued from or continues on a different page.) guide a reader through a story (story: Text that's contained within a single text box or a chain of linked text boxes.).
Add a notice to a story
- Right-click a connected text box.
- On the shortcut menu, click Format Text Box.
- In the Format Text Box dialog box, click the Text Box tab.
- Under Text autofitting, select the check box for the Continued notice that you want to add.
- Click OK.
- Repeat steps 1 through 5 for each connected box in the chain.
Note Text must be present in each linked text box for the Continued notice to appear in each linked text box.
Remove a notice from a text box
- Right-click a connected text box.
- On the shortcut menu, click Format Text Box.
- In the Format Text Box dialog box, click the Text Box tab.
- Under Text autofitting, clear the check box for the Continued notice you want to remove.
Format all of the notices in a publication
- Select the text in a Continued notice.
- Make the formatting changes you want.
- On the Format menu, click Styles and Formatting.
- In the Styles and Formatting task pane, point to Continued-On Text or Continued-From Text, and then click the down arrow that appears next to the style name.
- Click Update to match selection.
