New and improved commercial printing features
The commercial printing features in Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 have been significantly improved to make it easier to get professional output of your publications.
Composite CMYK output Publisher will print composite CMYK PostScript (PostScript: A page description language used by printers and imagesetters.) output that can be used with third-party trapping (trap: To create small overlaps where two differently colored objects abut on a printed page.) and page-imposition programs.
Easier to create and print separations New advanced print settings let you create separations directly from the Print dialog box. Now you can do the following:
Optimized RGB to CMYK conversion You can now get more accurate CMYK (CMYK: A color model for commercial printing that produces a wide range of colors by mixing varying percentages of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks.) values for gradients (gradient: A gradual progression of colors and shades, usually from one color to another color, or from one shade to another shade of the same color.) and graphics (graphic: A nontext design element, such as a photograph, drawing, or shape.) that have been scaled or rotated.
Enhanced color controls You now have more control over how you create and manage colors and inks in your publication. It's now much easier to change or replace inks and colors. You can also choose to maintain tint or luminosity when replacing one spot-color ink with another.
