In Publisher, a text style is a set of formatting characteristics that you can quickly apply to text on a paragraph-by-paragraph basis. When you apply a text style, you apply all the formatting characteristics you set for that style in one quick step. Styles contain information such as:
- font
- font color
- point size
- tabs
|
- indents
- regular, bold, or italic
- line and character spacing
- bulleted and numbered lists

Using a Text Style
In a single step, you can apply a style to a paragraph in a text frame or a table. The formatting changes affect the entire paragraph. When you are working in a publication, Publisher applies its Normal style, which is 10-point Times New Roman. If you want to change the default style, you can define a different Normal style.
Use each style for a specific purpose, such as a heading style for headings, a list style for lists, and a bulleted style for bullets. This way, you can easily maintain a consistent design throughout a text frame, story, entire publication, or a group of related publications.
Managing Styles
Text styles can come from a variety of sources. You can create your own styles in Publisher, import text styles from other publications, import from other programs such as Word, and use text styles you've saved in a template.
On the Formatting toolbar, choose a style from the Style box, or create your own style.
