Remove a task link

  1. On the View menu, click Gantt Chart.
  2. In the Task Name field, select the tasks you want to unlink.
  3. Click Unlink Tasks Button image.

The tasks are rescheduled based on any links to other tasks or constraints (constraint: A restriction set on the start or finish date of a task. You can specify that a task must start on or finish no later than a particular date. Constraints can be flexible [not tied to a specific date] or inflexible [tied to a specific date].).

Note  Removing a task link removes the dependency between two tasks, as indicated by the link lines between the tasks. If you want to change the hierarchical structure of a task or subtask as part of an outline structure for your project, then you need to outdent the task rather than remove the task link.

For more information about outdenting tasks, see the related links located in the See Also list (visible only when you are connected to the Internet).
