View and upload documents to Project Server

You can view and upload project-related documents on Microsoft Office Project Server 2003.

Note  To view and upload documents, you must be connected to Project Server.

ShowView documents

  1. On the Collaborate menu, click Documents.
  2. In the Document Libraries column, click a document library, and then click the document you want to view.

ShowUpload documents

  1. On the Project Document Libraries page, do one of the following:
    • To create a new document library for this project, click Create Document Library.
    • To use an existing document library, click Shared Documents, and continue with step 7.

Note  Shared Documents is a default library. If you can't locate it, it may have been renamed or deleted.

  2. On the next page, type a name in the Name box and a description in the Description box.
  3. To use a default document template type for all new documents created in this library, select a template in the Template Type box.
  4. Click Create.
  5. On the next page, click the document library you want to use to display its list of document templates.
  6. To create a new document, click New Document, and then edit and save the document in the directory provided.

Note  To create a document, you must have the Microsoft Office System installed. If no default template is specified for the document library, a Microsoft Office System program, depending on the default document template for the current document library, opens.

  7. To upload an existing document, click Upload Document, specify the file name and enter the necessary information (such as status, owner, and linked tasks, issues, and risks), and then click Save and Close.

Notes

  • You can also upload project documents to specific tasks in the View my tasks page or View resource assignments page. Click Tasks or Resources, select a task, and then click Link Documents.
  • To display only document templates of a specific type, from within a document library, click Filter to display AutoFilter options on the current page, and then select the options you want.
  • To automatically receive updated document information, from within a document library, in the side pane, click Alert me, and then specify the options you want.
