Registration
When you register Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager, referred to from now on as Business Contact Manager, you have a choice about providing contact information.
- If you choose to register without sending contact information, only the Product ID and standard computer information will be sent to Microsoft. The Product ID is a number generated from the version of software, language, and distribution method, such as retail. It does not contain any personal information.
- If you choose to register with your contact information, in addition to the preceding information, Business Contact Manager will also send to Microsoft the fields that you fill in on the registration screen.
Microsoft uses registration data to help improve its products and services. If you choose to provide your contact information, with your permission we can send you information about products and services related to Business Contact Manager, or share information with Microsoft partners so they can send you information about their products and services. If you uninstall and then reinstall Business Contact Manager, you will be asked to register it again.
You can review and edit the personal information that you provide during registration by visiting the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager Registration site. Alternatively, in Outlook 2007 itself, on the Help menu, click About Microsoft Office Outlook with Business Contact Manager, and then click Update Registration. In order to update your registration information, you may need to sign in with your Windows Live ID credentials (an e-mail address and password), and you will need the following:
Online Spotlight
The first time you use Business Contact Manager, the Online Spotlight feature synchronizes with a server at Microsoft, sending the Product ID and standard computer information, including standard regional and language settings. In return, the server will provide links to Microsoft Web pages that you may find interesting. If you registered Business Contact Manager with your contact information, the Online Spotlight content may be customized based on the information that you provided, such as your industry type. The Online Spotlight feature will periodically synchronize with a Microsoft server to provide you with updated customized information.
You can turn off the Online Spotlight feature by pointing to the Business Contact Manager menu, and then clicking Business Contact Manager Home. For each tab (Home, Sales, Marketing, and Projects) select Add or Remove Content, and then clear the Online Spotlight check box. The Online Spotlight feature is not available in all markets.
E-Mail Marketing Service
The E-Mail Marketing Service feature of Business Contact Manager helps you send and track E-mail Marketing Campaigns. However, before you can register for the E-Mail Marketing Service, you need to set up a Windows Live ID account. After you submit your Windows Live ID credentials, you will be prompted to submit the following:
- A company name
- A "From" e-mail address (the e-mail address that will appear on the e-mail messages that you send by using the E-Mail Marketing Service)
- A "Reply-to" e-mail address. In addition to replies from your customers, reports from the E-Mail Marketing Service will be sent to the "Reply-to" address.
- An e-mail Subject line, and
- Whether or not to use the e-mail tracking feature.
This information is sent to Microsoft so that we can provide the E-Mail Marketing Service to you. You can update this information by opening the Marketing Campaign, opening the E-Mail Marketing Service screen, and clicking the Account Settings button.
If you choose to sign up for an E-Mail Marketing Service subscription, you can update your information at the Microsoft Billing site by signing in, and then clicking the Personal Information link or Billing Information link.
Your use of the E-Mail Marketing Service is subject to the Microsoft Anti-Spam Policy. The E-Mail Marketing Service feature is not available in all markets.
