Change the fonts

You can change the fonts (font: A graphic design applied to all numerals, symbols, and alphabetic characters. Also called type or typeface. Arial and Courier New are examples of fonts. Fonts usually come in different sizes, such as 10 point, and various styles, such as bold.) on a single slide, or you can change the fonts throughout your entire presentation. You can also change the heading and body fonts in the theme that is applied to your presentation.

Change the fonts on a single slide

  1. Do one of the following:
  2. On the Home tab, in the Font group, select a font in the Font list.

Change the fonts throughout your presentation

If you are using one slide master (slide master: The main slide that stores information about the theme and layouts of a presentation, including the background, color, fonts, effects, placeholder sizes, and positions.), and you change a font on the slide master, the new font will appear throughout your presentation. If you are using multiple slide masters (for example, when you apply more than one template (design template: A file that contains the styles in a presentation, including the type and size of bullets and fonts; placeholder sizes and positions; background design and fill color schemes; and a slide master and optional title master.) to your presentation), you must change the font style on each slide master.

  1. On the View tab, in the Presentation Views group, click Slide Master.
  2. In the left pane that contains the slide masters and layouts (layout: The arrangement of elements, such as title and subtitle text, lists, pictures, tables, charts, AutoShapes, and movies, on a slide.), click the slide master thumbnail or layout that contains the font that you want to change.
  3. On the slide master or layout, click the title text or the level of body text that you want to apply a new font style to.

Tip   On a slide layout in the slide master, you can also change the default text that appears in a placeholder by creating custom prompt text.

  1. On the Slide Master tab, in the Edit Theme group, click Fonts, and then select a font from the list.

Repeat steps 1 through 4 for any other fonts that you want to change. To return to editing your slides, on the Slide Master tab, in the Close group, click Close Master View.
