Use Bulk Editing in PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer
In PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer, you can edit the properties of multiple elements at a single time, including description, location, and owner. For example, you can update the location to which you save a set of reports. Or, you can apply the same description to several scorecards.
For some elements, such as dashboards, reports, scorecards, and data sources, you can only update the general properties. For other elements, such as KPIs, you can update general properties and additional properties, such as target and actual values, number formatting, and thresholds.
Note When you want to update the properties of multiple elements, make sure that the elements belong to the same category. For example, you can edit multiple reports or multiple scorecards, but you cannot edit reports and scorecards at the same time.
What do you want to do?
Edit the general properties of multiple elements
Use the following procedure to edit the general properties of dashboards, scorecards, reports, data sources, and indicators. If you want to edit the properties of KPIs, see Edit the properties of multiple KPIs.
Note To edit the properties of dashboard elements, you must have Editor permissions. If you do not have Editor permissions for an element that you want to modify or use, you can open the element in your workspace, save it to a different location, and then republish it to PerformancePoint Monitoring Server. By default, you have Editor permissions for any element that you create or publish.
- In Dashboard Designer, click the Home tab, and then click Refresh to display the list of published dashboard elements.
- In the Workspace Browser, click the category that represents the type of dashboard elements that you want to edit. (Your options include Dashboards, KPIs, Scorecards, Reports, Data Sources, and Indicators.) The center pane of the workspace displays two tabs: Server and Workspace.
- Click the Workspace tab to view the list of elements that are available in your workspace. If an element that you want to change is listed on the Server tab, double-click it to add it to the Workspace tab.
Note You can only use Bulk Editing on elements that are listed in your Workspace tab.
- On the Workspace tab, hold down the Ctrl key as you select two or more elements that you want to edit. On the Ribbon, a component of the Microsoft Office Fluent user interface, click the Edit tab, and then click Bulk Edit to open the Bulk Editing dialog box.
- Use the Bulk Editing dialog box to update the description, location, and person responsible as follows:
| Section |
Procedure |
Description
|
Type a new description in the Description box. You can type a word, phrase, or one or more sentences in this box.
|
Person Responsible (owner)
|
Type a new user name in the format DOMAIN\alias in the Person Responsible box.
|
| Display Folder (location) |
Click Browse, and then select or create a new folder where you want to save the selected elements so they can be published to Monitoring Server. |
Tip When you type a value in a box in the Bulk Editing dialog box, the
changed value applies to all selected elements. If you make no change to a value in the selected elements, no change occurs for that value. For example, if you change the Display Folder box for the selected elements, but make no entry in the Description box, your bulk edit will apply only to the display folder; descriptions will remain the same.
- When you finish editing the general properties for the elements that you selected, click Finish. In the Confirmation screen, review the information in the Details pane, and then click Close.
- Click the Home tab, and then click Publish All to save your changes to Monitoring Server.
