For this practice, you'll need to know the URL of a SharePoint site to which you have access. If you don't have a server running Windows SharePoint Services but you do have Internet access, you can sign up for the Windows SharePoint Services Trial which will allow you do the practices. Some of the exercises require that you have permissions to create or modify an events list.

About the practice session

When you click Practice in Outlook, Outlook will open and a separate window with practice instructions will appear alongside (see picture).

Note     You need to have Outlook 2003 installed on your computer.

Tips

  • If the practice instructions aren't visible, or disappear when you click in Outlook, click the Outlook Help taskbar button and then click the Auto Tile button on the upper-left corner of the instructions.
  • If the practice instructions cover up Outlook, click the Auto Tile button on the upper-left corner of the instructions.

Before you begin

Make sure to close Outlook if it is already running.

Start the practice

Click the Practice in Outlook button now.

You'll need to print out the practice instructions that will appear in the Outlook Help window. Then you'll open a new instance of your Internet browser and follow the instructions you printed to create an events list on your SharePoint site. (You'll want a printed copy of the steps in case the Help window disappears. Also, it may be hard to display the Help window and the Internet browser at the same time.)
