Let's check the print layout

In Office, it is easy to preview what the layout will look like when printed without actually printing.
The print image displayed on the screen is called the "Print Preview".
You can display the Print Preview even if your printer is not connected to your computer.

Reading this article, you will learn how to show the Print Preview and how to use it. This article consists of the following two pages.

Let's display the Print Preview

  1. Click the Office Button (Office Button), point at Print, and then click Print Preview.

    Click Print Preview

  2. A print preview of the document is displayed.

    Tip: When the document has multiple pages

    When there are multiple pages in a document, you can click Next Page in Preview on the Print Preview tab to display the next page of the print preview.
    You can also click Previous Page on this tab to display the previous page.

Displaying the Print Preview

You can increase the display size and fit the display to the screen in Print Preview.
The commands related to the display of Print Preview are grouped in Zoom on the Print Preview tab.

See the table below for the names and roles of the commands displayed in the Ribbon.

Command Name Role
Zoom Zoom Opens the Zoom dialog box. You can set the zoom settings of the print preview.
100% 100% Displays the print preview at 100%.
One Page One Page Zooms (increases/decreases the zoom setting) the document so that an entire page fits in the window.
Two Pages Two Pages Zooms (increases/decreases the zoom setting) the document so that two pages fit the window.
Page Width Page Width Zooms (increases/decreases the zoom settings) the document so that the width of the page matches the width of the window.

Let's change the print preview zoom settings

Let's change the zoom of the print preview to 75%.

  1. Click Zoom in Zoom on the Print Preview tab.

    Click Zoom

    The Zoom dialog box appears.

  2. Click 75%, and then click the OK button.

  3. The zoom setting changes to 75%.

    Tip: What is the current % of zoom?

    The current zoom setting is displayed at the bottom of the window.

    You can change the zoom setting by moving the slider.

Let's zoom in on the print preview

You can click in the Print Preview and zoom in on the display.

  1. Place the cursorr over the document in Print Preview.
  2. Confirm that the cursorr has changed, and then click the Print Preview.

  3. The Print Preview display zooms in, and the cursorr shape changes to cursorr.

  4. Confirm that the cursorr shape has changed to cursorr, and then click on the print preview.
  5. The Print Preview display returns to the original zoom setting.
