Let's start PowerPoint

To use PowerPoint, look for the PowerPoint icon in the Start menu and click it.

Start PowerPoint using the following steps.

  1. [Display the Start menu.

    Click the Start button (Start button).

  2. Look for the PowerPoint icon.

    Select All Programs

    Select PowerPoint

    Point to All Programs. Next, point to Microsoft Office, and then click Microsoft Office Word 2007.

  3. The startup screen appears, and PowerPoint starts.

Tip: The first time you start PowerPoint

Doctor The first time you start PowerPoint, the Microsoft Software License Agreement might appear.

In this case, read the license agreement carefully and click the I Accept button.

 Note   If you are using a boxed edition, the screen and its operation might be different.

Let's quit PowerPoint

Let's quit PowerPoint using the following steps.

  1. Click the Close button in the upper right of the PowerPoint window.

    Close

    Click the Close button button.

  2. PowerPoint quits.

Tip: What if the "Do you want to save the changes you made to Presentation1?" message is displayed?

Doctor If you make any change, no matter how small, to a presentation and click the Close button button, a message box similar to the following one appears.

Save message

To save the changes, click Yes. To quit without saving the changes, click No. If you clicked the Close button button by mistake, click Cancel.

Tip: What if I click the Minimize button button by mistake?

Doctor If you click the Close button button, which is near the Minimize button button by mistake, the PowerPoint window disappears, but PowerPoint does not quit.

Taskbar

To display the PowerPoint window again, click the name of the PowerPoint file you want to open in the taskbar.
