View footnotes and endnotes in a Microsoft Word document
The note text appears above the mark in a ScreenTip (ScreenTip: A short description that appears when the user holds the mouse pointer over an object, such as a button or hyperlink.).
Note To scroll through all footnotes or endnotes in the note pane (pane: A portion of the document window bounded by and separated from other portions by vertical or horizontal bars.), switch to normal view (normal view: A view that shows text formatting and a simplified page layout. Normal view is convenient for most editing and formatting tasks.), and click Footnotes on the View menu. If a message appears, click View footnote area or View endnote area, and then click OK. In the note pane, click All Footnotes or All Endnotes.
