Vary colors in the same data series

You can vary the colors of data markers (data marker: A bar, area, dot, slice, or other symbol in a chart that represents a single data point or value that originates from a worksheet cell. Related data markers in a chart constitute a data series.) within the same data series (data series: Related data points that are plotted in a chart. Each data series in a chart has a unique color or pattern and is represented in the chart legend. You can plot one or more data series in a chart. Pie charts have only one data series.) in doughnut charts and in single-series charts. The colors of slices in pie charts and doughnut charts are varied by default.

  1. Click the data series you want to change the colors for.
  2. On the Format menu, click Selected Data Series or Selected Data Point, and then click the Options tab.
  3. Select the Vary colors by point check box or the Vary colors by slice check box.
