By default, Microsoft Excel corrects common spelling errors that are specified in the AutoCorrect dialog box. You can change the spelling options for automatic corrections, and you can turn them on or off.

- On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options.
- On the AutoCorrect tab, do any of the following:
- To add a new AutoCorrect entry, type the text that you want in the Replace and With boxes, and then click Add.
- To edit an AutoCorrect entry, click it in the list, type the text that you want in the With box, and then click Replace.
- To delete an AutoCorrect entry, click it in the list, and then click Delete.
- To enter capitalization exceptions, click Exceptions, and then do any of the following:

Turn automatic corrections on or off
- On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options.
- On the AutoCorrect tab, do any of the following:
- To allow or prevent specific corrections, select or clear the corresponding check box for the option.
- To allow or prevent all automatic corrections, select or clear the Replace text as you type check box.
Note Unlike in other Microsoft Office programs, such as Microsoft Word, you cannot display the AutoCorrect Options
button for automatic correction of text entries. You can, however, display or hide this button for hyperlink (hyperlink: Colored and underlined text or a graphic that you click to go to a file, a location in a file, a Web page on the World Wide Web, or a Web page on an intranet. Hyperlinks can also go to newsgroups and to Gopher, Telnet, and FTP sites.) entries by selecting or clearing the Show AutoCorrect Options buttons check box. When you select this check box, the AutoCorrect Options button first appears as a small blue box when you rest the mouse pointer near a hyperlinks that you enter. The box changes to a button when you point to it. You can click this button to undo a hyperlink or to stop it from being automatically created.
