Automatically start an Office program when you turn on your computer
 

ShowFor Windows XP

  1. Make sure dragging and dropping is enabled for the Windows Start menu.

    ShowHow?

    1. Right-click Start, and then click Properties.
    2. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box, click the Start Menu tab.
    3. Click Customize.
    4. In the Customize Start Menu dialog box, click the Advanced tab, and then select the Enable dragging and dropping check box in the Start menu items list.

  2. On the Windows Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, and then point to the Office program you want to automatically start.
  3. Drag the the Office program to rest over the Startup folder on the Start menu. When the Startup folder displays a list of programs, point to where you want the Office program to appear, and then release the mouse.

ShowFor Windows 2000

  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar & Start Menu.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click Add, and then click Browse.
  4. Locate the program you want to automatically start, and then click it.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Next, and then locate and double-click the Startup folder.
  7. Type the name that you want to see on the menu, and then click Finish.
  8. Click OK in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box
