Troubleshoot Opportunity records in Business Contact Manager
 

ShowI want to reopen a closed Opportunity record

You can reopen a closed Opportunity Record (Opportunity record: The location for storing Opportunity information, including information that is entered on the Opportunity form, linked records, and communication history items.) by resetting its sales stage.

ShowHow?

  1. On the Business Contact Manager menu, click Opportunities.
  2. In the Opportunities list, double-click the Opportunity record you want to reopen.
  3. In the General view, in the Status section, click the down arrow  Button image  next to the Sales stage box, and then select an opportunity status.

    ShowI can't edit some of the information on the Opportunity record form

    Some information cannot be entered on the Opportunity (Opportunity: The chance to sell your products or services to an Account or Business Contact.) form (form: A way to collect and distribute information for items in Business Contact Manager for Outlook.). For example, in the Product and services section, the Expected revenue, Total discount, and Total values are updated automatically according to the information originally entered.

    ShowI can't open a history item linked to an Opportunity record

    You may be unable to open a history item (history item: An item such as an appointment, business note, e-mail message, file, or task that is linked to an Account, Business Contact, Opportunity, or Business Project.) from an Opportunity record (Opportunity record: The location for storing Opportunity information, including information that is entered on the Opportunity form, linked records, and communication history items.) if the item was deleted or moved to another location, or if the link between the item and the Opportunity record was broken.

    To restore this link, relink the history item to the Opportunity record.

    ShowHow?

    An existing history item can only be linked to an Opportunity record (Opportunity record: The location for storing Opportunity information, including information that is entered on the Opportunity form, linked records, and communication history items.) from the item itself.

    1. On the Business Contact Manager menu, click History.
    2. In the History list, double-click the history item that you want to link to an Opportunity record.
    3. In the Linked account, business contact, opportunity or project section, click the Link To button.
    4. In the Link to Business Contact Manager record dialog box, in the Folder list, select the group of Opportunities that contains the Opportunity record you want to link the item to.
    5. In the list box, select the Opportunity record, and then click the Link To button to link the history item to the Opportunity record.
    6. Click OK to return to the history item.

    ShowI can't see the Opportunities folder in the Navigation Pane

    1. On the Go menu, click Folder List (folder list: Displays the folders available in your mailbox. To view subfolders, double-click the folder. If the Folder List is not available, click Folder List on the Go menu.), and then click to open the Navigation Pane (Navigation Pane: The column on the left side of the Outlook window that includes panes such as Shortcuts or Mail and the shortcuts or folders within each pane. Click a folder to show the items in the folder.).
    2. In the Folder List, click the plus sign next to Business Contact Manager to expand the folder list, and then view the Opportunities folder.
