CMW File Viewer

The CMW File Viewer (CMWView.exe) enables you to view the changes that a configuration maintenance file (CMW file) makes to a user's computer. This viewer also provides a list of all possible changes the Custom Maintenance Wizard can make through a CMW file.

To use the CMW File Viewer, you must supply the path and file name of the CMW file you created with the Custom Maintenance Wizard. The CMW File Viewer is not a separate application — instead, it reads the CMW file and creates a plain-text file, which is displayed by the Notepad text editor.

Download and install the CMW File Viewer

The CMW File Viewer is automatically installed on your computer when you install the Microsoft® Office 2003 Editions Resource Kit toolkit.

Toolbox   The Office 2003 Editions Resource Kit toolset (ork.exe) is available as a download. You can find this downloadable file on the Office 2003 Resource Kit Downloads page.

To locate the tool after installation, click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, point to Microsoft Office Resource Kit, and then click CMW File Viewer.

When the CMWView dialog box is displayed, search for the CMW file you want to view. When you have selected the file, click the Open button to display the text file created by the CMW File Viewer.
