Custom templates don't appear on the correct tab

Applies to
Microsoft Excel 2000

Make sure that you save your custom templates in the appropriate subfolder within your Templates folder. You can find the Templates folder in the following location:

Root\OS\Profiles\User_name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

Where:

  • Root is a server location or a directory on a drive from which all other folders branch (for example, C:\).
  • OS is the operating system folder (for example, the Windows folder).
  • User_name is your user name.

Templates in the Templates folder appear on the General tab in the New dialog box (File menu, New command); templates in subfolders of the Templates folder appear on tabs with the same names as the subfolders. For example, if you create a subfolder called Reports, a Reports tab will appear in the New dialog box.

Note  In Microsoft Windows® 2000, the path for the Templates folder is Root\Documents and Settings\User_name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates.
