Storing your pictures in Clip Gallery

Applies to
Microsoft PhotoDraw® 2000

Having trouble finding that picture you created last month for your company's Web site? Don't waste valuable time searching your computer for the pictures you create in PhotoDraw. Instead, use Clip Gallery to organize your picture files in ways that make sense to you.

For example, it may be that you've created six or seven versions of your company logo, each located in a separate folder on your computer. To better organize these pictures, you can create a customized Clip Gallery category and name it something like "Company logo." You can also add short descriptions and unique keywords that will help you locate your pictures.

Import Clips command in Clip Gallery

Import your pictures into Clip Gallery

  1. In PhotoDraw, click Clip Art on the Insert menu.
  2. On the Clip Gallery toolbar, click the Import Clips button.
  3. Locate the folder that contains the picture you want to add.
  4. Select the picture, and then click Let Clip Gallery find this clip in its current folder or volume.
This option stores a thumbnail in Clip Gallery so that you can view the clip, but leaves the actual file in its original location on your computer.
  5. Click Import.
The Clip Properties dialog box appears. You can use this dialog box to enter information describing the clip. If you want to apply the same information to all clips in a group that you are importing, select the Mark all clips with the same properties check box at the bottom of the dialog box.

Describe your pictures

  1. On the Description tab, type a description for your clip.
This description is searchable and also appears as a ToolTip when your pointer rests on a clip.
  2. On the Keywords tab, click New Keyword.
  3. In the New Keyword dialog box, type a word that you would like to use to search for this picture.

Categorize your picture

  1. On the Categories tab, click New Category to create a category to contain your pictures.
  2. In the New Category dialog box, type a name for the category, and then click OK.
  3. On the Clip Gallery toolbar, click All Categories to see all existing categories, including the one you just created.
