Differences between OLE DB provider and ODBC data source connections

Applies to
Microsoft Excel 2002

If you're using OLE DB or ODBC data sources to import data into Microsoft Excel, you'll want to know what you can do with your data after you make each type of connection.

Connecting to OLE DB providers or ODBC data sources is more convenient than ever in Excel 2002. You can use the Import Data or New Database Query command under Import External Data on the Data menu to create connections to either OLE DB or ODBC sources of data. Each data source has unique properties and limitations with which you'll want to be familiar.
