Change word, line, or paragraph spacing
 

ShowChange the spacing between words

  1. In Page view, at the bottom of the document window, click Design Button image.
  2. Select one or more paragraphs.
  3. On the Format menu, click Paragraph.
  4. Under Spacing, in the Word box, type or select the spacing that you want between words.

    Note  Word spacing is measured in pixels.

    ShowTip

    Click Preview at the bottom of the page to see what changing the spacing between words looks like.

ShowChange the spacing between lines

  1. In Page view, at the bottom of the document window, click Design Button image.
  2. Select one or more paragraphs.
  3. On the Format menu, click Paragraph.
  4. Under Spacing, in the Line Spacing box, click the the arrow, and then select the line spacing that you want.

ShowChange the spacing between paragraphs

  1. In Page view, at the bottom of the document window, click Design Button image.
  2. Select one or more paragraphs.
  3. On the Format menu, click Paragraph.
  4. Under Spacing, do either of the following:
    • In the Before box, type or select the spacing that you want above paragraphs.
    • In the After box, type or select the spacing that you want below paragraphs.

    Note  Paragraph spacing is measured in pixels.

Note  Not all Web browsers support word, line, and paragraph spacing in accordance with these settings.
