Create an e-commerce Web site with bCentral

The bCentral Commerce Manager Add-in for FrontPage will provide you with all the tools you'll need to create, update and manage a fully powered e-commerce Web site. After you install the add-in, all you have to do is sign up for a bCentral Account, create a product catalog, run the E-commerce Wizard, and customize your site to suit your needs.

Install using FrontPage 2002

To install the Microsoft bCentral Commerce Manager Add-in, you must be in Page view on an open page.

  1. In the Normal pane, position the insertion point on the open page.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Web Component. This will bring up the Insert Web Component dialog box.
  3. In the Component type pane, click bCentral Web Components.
  4. In the Choose a bCentral component pane, click bCentral Commerce Manager Add-in.
  5. Click Finish, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

Install using FrontPage 2000

  1. Point your Web browser to http://office.microsoft.com/2002/Downloads/fpecommenu.aspx
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Creating a product catalog

To create a product catalog in your bCentral Commerce Manager account, do the following:

  1. In FrontPage, on the Tools menu, point to E-commerce, and then click Add Products. This will take you to bCentral.

    Notes

    • If are not currently logged in to your bCentral Account, enter your e-mail address and password in the Log in to bCentral box, and then click OK.
    • If you have not yet signed up for a bCentral Account, click the button next to I want to sign up for bCentral, and then click OK.
  2. Follow the instructions in the bCentral Commerce Manager to add products, associate them with departments, and list them to My FrontPage-based Web Site.
  3. Return to FrontPage and create your e-commerce Web site.

Creating an e-commerce Web site

After you've created your product catalog in the bCentral Commerce Manager, associated your products with departments, and listed your departments to My FrontPage-based Web Site, you are ready to create your e-commerce Web site. You can do this in one of two ways:

Create a new e-commerce Web site

Using FrontPage 2002
  1. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Page or Web.
  2. On the New Page or Web task pane, under New from Template, click Web Site Templates, and then click E-commerce Wizard.
  3. Under Options, specify the name and location of the new Web site, and then click OK.
  4. Follow the instructions in the wizard, and then click Finish.
Using FrontPage 2000
  1. On the File menu, point to New.
  2. In the New dialog box, click Web, and then click E-commerce Wizard.
  3. Under Options, specify the name and location of the new Web site, and then click OK.
  4. Follow the instructions in the wizard, and then click Finish.

Run the E-commerce Wizard in an existing FrontPage Web site

  1. Open the existing Web site to which you want to add e-commerce features.
  2. On the Tools menu, point to E-commerce, and then click E-commerce Wizard.
  3. Follow the instructions in the E-commerce Wizard, and then click Finish.
