Validate XML data against an XML schema

Note  XML features, except for saving files in the XML Spreadsheet format, are available only in Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 and Microsoft Office Excel 2003.

You validate XML data against an XML schema to ensure that any XML data you import to or export from one or more cells in a mapped range in a worksheet conforms to the XML schema in the XML Source task pane.

  1. On the Data menu, point to XML, and then click XML Map Properties to display .
  2. In the XML Map Properties dialog box, select Validate data against schema for import and export.

This check box is cleared by default.

Note  This option does not validate data when you enter data in mapped cells. To make sure the data you enter conforms to any enumerations defined in the mapped schema, you may need to further validate the data by using the Validation command under the Data menu. For more information, see the following help topics: XML Schema Definition (XSD) data type support and Designate valid cell entries.
