You might find erroneous extra spaces in text that has been imported into Excel from other programs, as shown in the illustration. To delete those spaces, you would once again begin with one cell, by typing this formula in cell B2:
The TRIM function deletes all spaces in text, except for single spaces between words.
After typing this formula and copying it down the entire column, you could once again delete the old text by pasting the new text over it. At the same time, you could also delete the formulas. You can try those steps in the practice session at the end of the lesson.
