Charts II: Choose the right chart type

With the List feature, a new row of data is automatically shown on a chart

New row: The chart automatically shows the addition to the list data.

There's a new way to keep charts current in Excel 2003.

Whenever you change worksheet data, Excel instantly updates any chart using that data. But what if you add a whole new row of data to a worksheet? The chart doesn't change. Unless, that is, it's a chart using data to which you've applied the new List feature.

If you use the List command on the Data menu in Excel 2003 to make your data into a list, and then you create a chart with that data, any new rows added to the bottom of the list are automatically added to the chart. You'll see how in the practice session.
