Microsoft Office Communicator 2005: The recommended client for Live Communications Server, Communicator 2005 with its instant messaging (IM), presence, and 1:1 audio and video capabilities is provided at no additional cost to customers who have Live Communication Server 2005 Client Access Licenses (CALs). For these customers, using the telephony features of Communicator 2005 (public branch exchange [PBX] integration for remote call control and public switched telephone network [PSTN] audio conferencing) requires the purchase of the appropriate number of Live Communication Server Telephony CALs. Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access: Communicator Web Access is provided at no extra cost to customers who have current Live Communications Server 2005 Server and Client Access Licenses.

Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile: Communicator Mobile is provided at no extra cost to customers who have current Live Communications Server 2005 Server and Client Access Licenses.

Live Communications Server 2005 External Connector License Available through volume licensing programs The External Connector (EC) license is an optional license that permits any number of external users or devices to access a single copy of your Live Communications Server 2005 software. Generally, an external user is a person who is not an employee of your company. Examples include your business partners, suppliers, customers, and alumni. External users do not include persons to whom you provide hosted services. Please talk with your Microsoft account representative about this licensing option.
Live Communications Server 2005 Public IM Connectivity Service Available through volume licensing programs1 Pricing for Public IM Connectivity includes access to all three public instant messaging (IM) service providers—The Microsoft Network (MSN), America Online (AOL), and Yahoo!—and is sold on a per-user, per-month service agreement2. Public IM Connectivity service licenses can be added to a current customer Select License, Enterprise Agreement, or open-value License. Live Communications Server 2005 client and server licenses are required before purchasing the Public IM Connectivity service agreement. Pricing and licensing details for Public IM Connectivity are available through Microsoft Volume Licensing programs.
