Depending on how he wants to customize his computer and what software he has installed, he can change the language of his keyboard, change his computer display, or check the spelling or grammar in another language.
Note If your computer is customized but you sometimes need to insert special characters, such as check marks or the umlaut in German (ö), you can use ASCII character codes not on the keyboard or use special characters from the Character Map.

If you want to include a section of text in a language different than the rest of your file, you can set the proofing language of the different text so the spelling checker does not mark it as misspelled. See Switch between different languages by setting the proofing language. If you want the whole document to be in a different language than you normally use, you can set the language at the beginning of the document.
