This query will show the total freight for each country in the Orders table.
If you want to perform calculations on a group of items, you can use what's known as a totals query.
Don't let the name "totals query" deceive you; it can do more than just total data. A totals query can average a group of items, count the number of items, find the minimum or maximum number, and more.
The query uses built-in functions that average, count, and perform other operations. For a complete list, see the Quick Reference Card at the end of this course.
It's important to understand which field you want to group your data by, such as grouping your freight totals by the Freight field.
You start by displaying the Total row; just click the Totals button on the Query Design toolbar.
Next, click the Total cell in the field that you want to group the data by, and then click the arrow that appears. In the Group By list, click the calculation, or function, that you want to apply.
